I am directed by Secretary Sir Austen

Chamberlain to refer to your letter of the 3rd August

last (30145/1927) and to transmit to you herewith, a

copy of a despatch from the Judge of His Majesty's

Supreme Court at Shanghai relative to the arrangements

for the formation of an Appeal Court at Hongkong.

I am to enquire whether there is any objection

to the Assistant Judge at Shanghai sitting as a member

of the Appeal Court at Hongkong when the Judge of

His Majesty's Supreme Court for China is not available.
